Executive Chairman

Nick Mitaros is a founding shareholder and director of the Leichhardt Industrials Group (LIG) and brings 40 years of leadership experience in the legal, property, pastoral and mining industries.

Prior to establishing LIG, Nick’s legal career included roles as Managing Partner of national law firm Clayton Utz (Darwin), Clayton Utz national director and Legal Consultant from 2002 – 2019

Since 1998 Nick has held the position of Australian Resident Director of the Jerambak Group, the pastoral holding interests of the Government of Brunei Darussalam. In this role he regularly travels to Brunei and hosts Ministerial delegations in Australia

Nick is a director of The Hellenic Initiative Australia , a Not for Profit organisation of prominent leaders of the Greek diaspora focussed on economic development programs designed to encourage entrepreneurship and investment in Greece.


Denise Goldsworthy

Denise’s prior executive career included roles as Managing Director of Dampier Salt, Managing Director of HIsmelt, Chief Commercial Officer Autonomous Haul Trucks and Director Major Projects for Rio Tinto. She is a highly experienced non-executive director and advisor on research, technology and innovation. Denise is a proven senior executive with experience in the manufacturing, infrastructure, mining and technology sectors. Recognised as a master of constructive questioning, she utilises expertise in business engagement and system design to achieve reliable outcomes.

Denise also owns and manages a small consultancy, Alternate Futures (AF) which was established specifically to work at the interface between Australia’s research organisations, tech-start-ups and industry, facilitating connections between problems and solutions, addressing translation, system and cultural issues enabling both sides to see and understand the needs of the other with the aim of establishing commercially viable partnerships that achieve impact. 

Denise is currently Chair of the Board for Western Power and Gascoyne Gateway Ltd; Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Navy Clearance Diver Trust (NCDT); Chair of the Cooperative Research Centres Advisory Committee (CRCAC); and member of Curtin University’s Commercialisation Advisory Board and Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer Board. 

Among Denise’s honours is being named the 2010 Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year. She is also a member of Chief Executive Women (CEW), was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2011 and in 2020, was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished services to business, particularly to technological innovation and research in the mining and manufacturing sectors.

Nick Liveris

Nick Liveris is a seasoned business executive and corporate advisor with over a decade of experience in investment banking, management consulting, and leadership in emerging technology sectors. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the Wharton School of Business, Mr. Liveris began his career in investment banking at Merrill Lynch before advancing to management consulting with McKinsey & Company. His career has been marked by a focus on guiding large-scale business transformations, strategic investments, and growth initiatives across natural resources, energy transition, and advanced manufacturing.

In addition to serving on the board of Leichhardt Group, Mr. Liveris is a board member at NOVONIX Limited, a leader in lithium-ion battery materials and technology. As one of NOVONIX’s early team members and its former CFO, he played a pivotal role in securing the company’s first large-scale customer contracts, raising hundreds of millions of dollars from both the U.S. government and private sector, and listing the company on NASDAQ. He now serves as Executive Director at the Liveris Family Office, where he focuses on identifying and nurturing early-stage, high-impact investments in clean technology, energy transition, and advanced manufacturing.

Peter Edwards

Peter Edwards is the Managing Director of the Victor Smorgon Group, a family-run operating and investment company in Australia.

Under Peter’s leadership, the portfolio of the Victor Smorgon Group has grown to include a range of successful businesses, partnerships and investments including Funds Management, Agriculture, Property, Retail and Commodities.  Today, Victor Smorgon Group is one of Australia’s most established and successful family offices, operating across multiple asset classes.

Peter also has a historic and ongoing involvement in philanthropic activities, following the strong philanthropic philosophy that has been sustained through the Smorgon family generations.

Peter was appointed to the Leichhardt Board in March 2022.                                         

Murray Read

Murray Read

Director

Murray Read is a member of the Knauf Group Management Committee and responsible for the Asia Pacific region. The Knauf Group is the world’s largest privately owned building materials group with operations across Europe, North and Latin America, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia/Pacific. The group’s operations in plasterboard and insulation span across 90 countries and over 300 production facilities. The Asia/Pacific operations include manufacturing facilities in China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Australia.

Prior to joining Knauf in 2013, Murray worked for Boral Ltd for 30 years in the Plasterboard and the Construction Materials Divisions. His last role was Divisional Managing Director for Boral Construction Materials that comprised over 400 separate Quarry, Concrete, Logistics and Asphalt operations employing more than 6500 people.

Murray has a proven track record in developing strategies to focus on those markets and products with proven competitive capabilities and maximise earnings through a structured program of sales and market development, operational improvements, and portfolio realignment. Murray also has a successful track record of leading acquisitions and negotiating, managing, and heading up complex joint ventures.

Murray is currently the Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee for BMD Holdings, Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction, and urban development business.

Murray joined the Leichhardt Board in December 2024.

Dylan Hsu

Dylan Hsu

Director

Dylan Hsu is an experienced investment professional with Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. He has been a member of Ontario Teachers' Natural Resources team since 2016, completing various transactions in the oil & gas and mining sectors totaling over $2 billion. He has experience originating and executing across a range of financing structures including equity, royalty/stream, and debt.

Prior to joining Ontario Teachers', Dylan worked in investment banking at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Capital Markets. Dylan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Finance from Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario, Canada.

Dylan joined the Leichhardt Board in January 2025.

Scott Nicholas

Scott Nicholas

Chief Executive Officer

Scott Nicholas is an experienced mining executive with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. He has experience across multiple commodities from greenfield, development, and operational assets. He has led the financing and development of several resource projects in Australia. Scott joined Leichhardt in September 2022 as CFO and became the CEO in February 2024.

Scott is a Chartered Accountant, Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, and has a Law/Commerce degree from Murdoch University.

Scott was most recently CFO at Australian Potash Ltd and a founding Director of MACH Energy.
