Rio Tinto has completed the sale of Dampier Salt's Lake MacLeod operation to Leichhardt. The operation fully transferred to Leichhardt’s ownership today.

Lee Harrup, Elisa Andreoli and Vanessa Hughes, all from Leichhardt, joined the Carnarvon Careers Expo yesterday sharing the fantastic traineeship opportunities that we hope to bring to the local community soon.

The first of the 2023/24 marine turtle surveys took place in late October, the timeframe being identified as the peak nesting period for hawksbill turtles in the Pilbara. Dr Paul Whittock, Principal Scientist at Pendoley Environmental, spent 14 days aboard the “Jilly B” routinely surveying North-East and South-West Regnard Islands, Steamboat Island and beaches to the east of Cape Preston aiming to capture adult track census data to estimate the nesting abundance.

Recently, the Leichhardt Board of Directors visited the Lake MacLeod operation via Carnarvon. Our thanks to the Dampier Salt team (Rio Tinto) for accommodating our visit and showing us the salt and gypsum operations as well as Cape Cuvier port.

Industrial salt developer Leichhardt Industrials Group has today announced the acquisition of an existing industrial salt and gypsum operation in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region.
