Groundwater quality sampling at Eramurra

Land and Water Consulting are conducting groundwater quality sampling using low flow methods at the Eramurra site.

Pictured is Al, sporting the Pilbara’s must-have fashion accessory (the fly net) and measuring water quality parameters (pH, electrical conductivity (salinity), and temperature) using a flow cell prior to taking the groundwater quality samples.

The water is pumped out using a Geotech bladder pump which is down the well. The pump is held in position using a wire cable and the plastic clip on the steel riser (which you can see just behind his head)!

The samples will go into the laboratory supplied bottles which are in the plastic bags at his feet.

We ensure that any groundwater abstracted does not enter a surface water system, thus water removed from the well that we don’t need for sampling is collected in the bucket and disposed of in the “turkeys’ nest” on the left of the picture where it will evaporate.
